John Innes Centre

Aura is a biologist from Mexico. After finishing her studies in plant chemistry, she went to Germany for her master’s in plant pathology. During that time, she worked with Fusarium head blight disease on wheat. After that, Aura went back to Mexico to worked in CIMMYT in the wheat physiology department. Since 2018 she is a PhD student at the John Innes Centre in Cristobal’s Uauy lab. Her research focuses on how the gw2 (grain weight2) allele improves grain weight and size in different wheat cultivars and environments by conducting field and glasshouse trials in UK and Mexico. Additionally, she is researching the possible interaction of the plant hormone gibberellins and the gw2 allele.
